Clinical Nutrition

Food is our first and most important medicine.  Without good nutrition, we are unlikely to achieve good health.  The Standard American Diet (SAD) is typically processed, highly refined and thus lacks important nutrients required for optimal growth, development and well-being.  Many foods and their associated preservatives, additives, and pesticides may even damage our bodies, contributing to chronic illness. A healthy diet – consisting of the right balance of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, anti-oxidants, fibre and amino acids – is the most important tool for the body to prevent and recover from illness.

Your nutritional evaluation includes the use of a diet diary in order to determine possible food allergies, sensitivities, digestive issues, disease risk and over all diet quality. The counseling you will receive regarding nutrition may include education regarding food choices, label reading, the addition or removal of certain foods from your diet, individualized dietary plans, and the use of nutritional supplementation.
