SpiderTech Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology taping or K tape or Kinesio tape, as it is also known, has been in use for over 25 years.  Established in Japan, the tape was designed to treat athletic injuries and a variety of physical disorders.  Using strips of the tape often proved time consuming, which led the creators of SpiderTech to design pre-cut kinesiology tape applications called “spiders”.  SpiderTech tape is a non-medicated cotton tape applied to specific areas of the body. Each Spider is made of one continuous piece of Kinesiology tape so that it integrates with the body in a super-functional manner. The tape has a very specific elasticity built into the weave pattern of the cotton fabric, which mimics the elasticity and thickness of human skin, allowing it to integrate, support and stabilize without adversely affecting healthy ranges of motion. Spiders act in four therapeutic ways:

  1. Psychological effects: increases conscious awareness of the body; increases perception of stability of the affected area; decreases fear of activity
  2. Microcirculatory effects: improves superficial fluid dynamics; improves lymphatic drainage; treats swelling and bruising
  3. Structural effects: prevents harmful ranges of motion; dynamically supports better postural positions; enhances biomechanical postures during sports; reduces strain on affected muscles; dynamically treats hyper-mobility
  4. Neurosensory effects: enhances sensory stimulation leading to decreased neural perception of pain; activates neural pathways that improve muscle activation and function

Spiders can be used by anybody to help reduce pain and improve function.  Athletes often use spiders to improve the effects of treatment and maintain it beyond the clinical setting, to improve stability and to manage pain.  Contact us to learn more or visit www.spidertech.com.
